Holiness

10/08/12 When God begins his work of conforming us into the image of His Son, He has one goal in mind – holiness! Ephesians 1:4 tells us that, “ He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” Even before we were born God chose us and expects us to be holy. Holiness is far more than being without sin. While it involves purity, character is also included. Warren Wiersbe in his book, On Being a Servant, wrote, “Holiness is to the inner person what health is to the body. Holiness is wholeness, Christlikeness, the fruit of the Spirit being revealed in our lives…God doesn’t make us holy so that we can enjoy it. He makes us holy so that He can use us to do the work He wants us to do” 1Pet.1:15 reinforces what Wiersbe said, “ but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, “ As you can see holiness involves who you are as well as what you do. One of the ways you know that God is at work in you is that you have a desire to be holy and to live a holy life simply because that kind of life is what pleases the Lord. The best way I know of to “be holy” is to spend time in the presence of the Holy One. Prayer, meditation in the Word, and obeying what God says to you is the only key I know for you to become holy. Do you have a desire to please the Lord? Do you spend time with Him? Do you read you Bible asking the Lord to speak to you so that you can draw closer? Prayer: Father, I want to be as holy as sinner can be because that is pleases You. Help me to take time to be holy and feast on your word. In Jesus name, amen
